The commercial is meant to be a lighthearted and comedic skit to advertise Allstates Home Insurance. The ad is most likely targeting homeowners with messy pets, as the actor is pretending to be a cat and makes a mess of the house (like all cats do).
Most of the audience would be able to relate to this ad one way or another as most of us have had pets before, and I'm sure most of them have made messes before. This helps connect to viewers on a more personal level, leading them to be more open and intrigued about the product.
This ad could also attract people who are new homeowners or on the fence about getting a pet, as it may not have crossed someone's mind, the kind of damages a pet can cause, and I'm sure it's relieving knowing you can have insurance that covers such damages.
Overall, the ad does a great job at connecting with its audience on a personal level while keeping them engaged with comedic value, while simultaneously promoting their product.
